DokuWiki is used as an electronic support for sqad leaders of fire service units in the "Einsatzleiterwiki" ("Squad-Leader-Wiki"). Therefore a special infrastructure was established; there is a wiki which is open for editing by everyone. The created and modified articles are supervised by experts, using the [[plugin:publish|publish plugin]]. When the articles are approved, they are copied to a nearly identical wiki which is read-only.

On the internet-page of the project [[https://www.einsatzleiterwiki.de]] a modified version of DokuWiki, adapted to the special needs of this system, can be downloaded and installed as a desktop-wiki on a local machine, for example a laptop. The [[plugin:sync|Synchronization Plugin]] is used to provide an update-function to the users. They are able to download the approved articles very quick. So it is very easy to spread knowledge all over the German fire services.
