With DokuWiki, we made our SnoCoCAN (Snohomish County Culture, Activism, and Networking) project a reality. We were able to collect and put together a lot of information regarding activism efforts, being more involved in local politics, and getting familiar with racial/ethnic minorities as well as the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized groups, all in Snohomish County in the State of Washington (USA). Our wiki is meant to serve primarily those in the Snohomish County region since Seattle and King County unsurprisingly often overshadow the areas surrounding it in terms of attention.
We like DokuWiki for its ease of use and relative simplicity compared to popular examples like MediaWiki. The many plugins also allow us to add a number of useful functions. Two of our favorites are the Blog plugin and the Dw2Pdf plugin (the latter for making PDFs of the pages.
